Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and what this covers

ValetSold ("we", "us") helps people sell their own cars privately: we build listings, handle buyer communication through a relay, and generate closing paperwork. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It covers valetsold.com, including public listing pages and the free scam-check tool. It covers sellers (account holders) and buyers (people who contact a seller through a listing).

2. What we collect

• Account information — name, email, phone, city/state/ZIP, showing availability, and your password stored as a salted hash, never in plain text.
• Vehicle and listing content — photos, VIN and its decoded specifications, mileage, condition notes, asking price, and the listing copy generated from them.
• Instant-offer documents — the offer amount, source, date, and the screenshot or PDF you upload as proof; this is the baseline your fee is measured against.
• Buyer communications — if you message a listing, we collect your name (if given), the contact details you provide, and the content of the conversation. Conversations are processed by an automated assistant on the seller's behalf, screened for fraud, logged, and shared with the seller.
• Scam-check screenshots — images you upload to the free tool, which may include the content of conversations with third parties. We analyze them to produce the verdict and retain them to improve fraud detection.
• Sale and billing information — closing details (sale price, buyer name and contact as entered, signatures typed into the bill of sale) and payment-card details for the success fee. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we store the card brand, last four digits, and expiration, never the full number.
• Device and usage information — IP address, browser type, pages visited, and, if you arrived from a link with campaign tags, the referrer and campaign that brought you (stored in a first-touch cookie so we know which marketing works).

3. How we use it

• To provide the service — building and hosting your listing, answering buyers on your behalf, screening for scams, scheduling showings, generating closing documents, charging the success fee, and sending transactional email such as buyer-message notifications.
• For safety — detecting fraud patterns across conversations and improving the scam screening that protects sellers.
• For analytics and improvement — understanding how the product is used so we can fix and improve it.
• For security and compliance — preventing abuse, debugging, enforcing our agreements, and meeting legal obligations.

4. AI processing

Listing copy, buyer-message replies, scam screening, and scam-check verdicts are produced with AI. To do that, the relevant content — your vehicle facts, the text of buyer conversations, and uploaded screenshots — is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) for processing. Buyer-facing messages disclose that an automated assistant is involved.

5. Cookies

Today valetsold.com uses only essential cookies (your sign-in session) and the first-touch attribution cookie described above. We do not currently run third-party analytics or advertising pixels. If we add them, we will update this policy first, provide an opt-out, and honor Global Privacy Control signals as a standing opt-out.

6. Who we share information with

The other party to your sale. That is the point of the service: buyers' messages and contact details go to the seller; the seller's listing content, relay contact details, and closing documents go to the buyer. Sellers' personal home addresses are not shared with buyers by us.

Service providers, receiving only what they need for their job: Fly.io (hosting), Neon (database), Anthropic (AI processing as described above), Stripe (payments, when live card processing is enabled), Resend (transactional email), Twilio (relay phone/SMS, when enabled), Namecheap (domains), and NHTSA's public vPIC service (your VIN is sent to decode vehicle specifications). Payment verification at closing is handled by independent licensed providers such as KeySavvy directly between you and them, under their own privacy policies.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith it is required to comply with law or legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or others, to enforce our agreements, or to investigate fraud — including sharing scam evidence with platforms or law enforcement.

Business transfers. If ValetSold is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction; this policy would continue to apply to it.

We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not use your listing content or conversations for third-party advertising.

7. Retention

Account and listing data is kept while your account is active. Completed-sale records (bill of sale, fee calculation, charges) are kept as needed for legal, tax, and billing purposes. Conversation logs and scam-check images are kept to operate and improve fraud screening. You can request deletion at any time (below); we delete what we are not legally required to keep.

8. Your choices and rights

• You can view and edit your account information in Settings, and take your listing down at any time.
• You can request a copy or deletion of your personal information by emailing hello@valetsold.com. California residents can exercise their rights to know, delete, and correct this way; we do not discriminate for exercising them.
• Buyers can stop receiving replies from a relay conversation at any time by saying so in the conversation.

9. Children

ValetSold is not for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

10. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we will update the date above, and for material changes we will also tell you by email or an in-app notice before they take effect.
